Causes of Heartburn

The leading cause of heartburn is the personal lifestyles that include diet, exercise, and weight. To diet of individuals often is the main cause of heartburn due the spicy or fried foods contributing to the disease. Heartburn is a painful medical condition resulting from acid reflux disease. The pain is uncomfortable leaving the chest burning sensation. The pain is similar to the symptoms of heart attacks making many people fail to respond to the potential heart attack, which results in death commonly. Heartburn happens when the end of the esophagus and the LES, the top of the stomach’s ring, fail to stop the stomach acids from entering the esophagus. The rising acids create a burning in the throat regions.

Heartburn or acid reflux are affected by foods such as ground beef, spicy or fried chicken or buffalo wings, greasy chicken nuggets, and meat that is marbled with fat. Among other causes of heartburn or acid reflux are foods that include fats, oils, sweets, chocolate, corn chips, brownies, dressings, potato chips, doughnuts, fatty foods, high fat foods or cookies, creamy salad dressings, oily salad dressings, and fried foods as well as juices, whether fruit or vegetable, that are high in acid. The juices commonly related to heartburn are lemon juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, tomato juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and lemonade. Potato salad, mashed potatoes, and raw onions also cause heartburn.

Beverages are leading causes of acid reflux especially liquor, coffee, tea, wine, and soda that contribute to heartburn. Foods high in grains or tomato sauces or cheeses also often result in heartburn for certain people. Dairy products that cause the burning sensation include ice cream, cottage cheese, and sour cream. The cream based foods increase the body’s acid in the stomach.
To reduce the causes of heartburn related to foods, avoid greasy, fatty, fried, and dairy foods. Restrict the intake of beverages listed as well. Change the current diet to a low fat, low dairy diet to remove the hazards of over active stomach acids that rise up in the esophagus resulting in acid reflux and heartburn. Avoid eating large meals to reduce the body’s normal reaction to produce acids.

Restrict the diet from amounts of foods or beverages that produce the natural stomach acids, the decreasing of symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn will generally happen.
